NOM is reacting like the Haters did when the Missouri state police arrested the deranged idiot who was a pedophile who kidnapped young boys only. The Haters acted as if that one person was representative of ALL homosexuals, and screamed that the MSM was hiding the truth from the populace.

I guess we should think of ALL Catholics as most people do of Timothy McVeigh? After all, wasn't he raised in a Catholic culture, thus shouldn't we think that all Catholics are like Timothy McVeigh?

Hint to the Haters – one does not make the total, especially when talking about millions (in the GLBT community or Catholics).

Well Nickey, actually for the NOM site they chose to make this a big week . A lunatic shot a guard at the FRC and NOM hopes to inflate this into the next Armagheddon. The site is so inflamed that those of us who were, initially, able to respond with reasoned debate about the isolated nature of this in light of the deluge of historically hate inspired retribution against gays have been cut off. So much for an enlightened discussion of reality.

Our side is going to tear apart the other side's attempt at appeal. The Supreme Court will deny appeal and same sex marriage will resume in California in October. I can't wait!!!

Actually, the first conference by SCOTUS is before the October 2012 term officially begins.

From the official Supreme Court [of the United States] calendar,
"Opening conference: September 24, 2012"

The result of conferences held on whether to accept or not cert is usually given on Mondays, but usually not on days when the Court is in 'oral argument session' which it will be on the following Monday (and the following Monday is a holiday, with an 'oral argument session' the following day). Thus we can probably expect a decision to be announced late (DC time) September 24, or on September 25 though 28.

If not brought up at the September 24 conference, the next 'conference dates' are Friday, October 5 (with a Federal holiday the next Monday and the court hearing oral arguments on Tuesday), and on October 12 and October 26 (with the court hearing oral arguments on the following Monday).

No, opponents of Prop 8 must file briefs before August 31 arguing why the Supreme Court should deny review. The Supreme Court has its first conference in October and we should expect a decision on whether or not they'll hear the case around the end of October.

Does that mean that on Aug 31st, we will know if the SCOTUS denies or accept to review the case? I thought the Supremes only reconvened in October and that decision would be only expected around the end of the year? Am i missing sth?
