The AFP reports that French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault told Parliament yesterday, “In the first half of 2013, the right to marriage and adoption will be open to all couples, without discrimination.” As a candidate, newly-instated President Francois Hollande campaigned on a platform that included marriage equality.
For those of us here in the states, Happy Fourth of July! By next year’s Independence Day, I hope we will be able to celebrate the end of the Defense of Marriage Act and marriage equality victories in new states around the country.
What are you doing for the holiday?
