A few days ago I asked for help to send me and the Prop 8 Trial Tracker team to Netroots Nation ’12 in Providence next week. Thanks to you all, we have raised the money to make that happen. I’m already in the process of doing and scheduling interviews, meeting with some of the big players in LGBT organizations and legal groups. We will have some of those reports from the conference on some of the goings-on here. The conversations I’ve been having are great and informative.

I talked to Jennifer Levi, a lawyer for GLAD who used to clerk for Judge Michael Boudin, the judge who wrote the opinion in the first circuit striking down the Defense of Marriage Act as unconstitutional. We will have that interview posted as well as some other reports. Many of the marriage equality organizations in Minnesota, Maryland and other states are here as well.

Thanks so much: you all made it possible for me to be able to attend this year. The fund raiser was a huge success. We will be able to provide better coverage in the future because of the great connections available to us here!

Just to echo Scottie, it really is amazing how many of you contributed to send us here. Sorry it's been quiet here but we're working to get interviews and interact as much as possible to have some interesting takes for you next week. Fun stuff.

I think it is really really important for you to attend these types of conferences. For the most part you all work remotely, independently and as close as you are able to connect with your readers and other Leaders in the LGBT community and other bloggers, I am positive that getting out of your home environment and meeting in person is hugely important. (Boy that is a long sentence!)

Surely these conferences and meetings fire you up and motive you to reach higher and be better. You ARE part of a large movement, being at Netroots makes that connection in a solid in person way. All the best to you guys, soak it up and we'll see you next week.

You should love today then. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, Sen. Sherrod Brown, and Rep. David Cicilline will be there.

We're having a ball. Scottie lined up interviews with a whole cast of characters. I spoke with Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) for awhile about the ban on blood donations from men who have sex with men, and the marriage equality measure in Maryland. We'll have some good content starting on Monday recapping it all.
