Who says? If you are married, file as married and take the benefits to which you are entitled. What's going to happen? The IRS will either accept your return or reject it. If they reject it, file it again as married. It's the truth.

It's really odd to me that more people don't do this. What are the repercussions? The IRS can only take the taxes that you would have owed anyway plus 2% interest. That's a pretty sweet loan at the very least.

The Federal Government ONLY recognizes our marriage enough to tax my husband on the employment benefits he recieves through my job! $190 per month that my co-workers spouses do NOT have to pay!
Not only do LGBT families not recieve tax breaks for their children, but they have to pay a "Gay" tax as well.

Unfortunately, the courts seem to be in no hurry to invalidate DOMA.
Congress is doing next to nothing to repeal DOMA, and house republicans have made $1.5 million of taxpayer funds available to defend it. Funds beyond the $1.5 million will be made immediately available when needed.
The glacial speed that efforts to invalidate DOMA are progressing suggests that the law will be around for many years to come.

Maggie and Brian and the rest of NOM are knowingly hurting children. They are knowingly hurting children. They have no moral qualm hurting the children of LGBT couples in order hurt their parents. They believe that this is war, and war always has casualties. In this case, the casualties are children. NOM is in no way pro family. They are demonstrably anti children. And they have no problem with this. It sickens me.
